At present, Museo ABC in Spain is the only museum with collections of Spanish illustrations, including excellent contemporary works of Spain of the recent decades and works of current outstanding artists. Museo ABC possesses more than 150,000 pieces of illustrations which have been collected since 1891. The role of the museum is not merely a work conserver but also a work promoter, allowing more people to understand the contemporary Spanish illustrations. Since its official inauguration in 2010, Museo ABC has been exhibiting in its best venue works of contemporary Spanish illustrators, such as Ana Juan, Mariscal, Paco Roca, Javier Zabala, Javier Olivares, Pep Carrió, Isidro Ferrer, Fernando Vicente, Eva Vázquez, Salvador Larroca, Pepe Larraz, Max, Pablo Amargo, and others. In this lecture, there will be a review of the Spanish illustrators’ performances in different creative movements in terms of graphic novels, comics, children’s picture books, design, advertising, street art, and animation.
