Through the dialogue between the Chinese writer Chan Koon-chung and the movie director Hou Chi-jan about “The Significance of Literature and Image Creations to the Society (with Hidden Attempts)”, you will listen how do the writer and the director use words and images to portray the social realities and the inner ideals.

Moderated by Chen Ru-jane, senior lecturer of the Department of Anthropology of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Lan Pei-chia, the Distinguished Professor of the Department of Sociology of National Taiwan University, Yolanda Yu, the organizer of Singapore Migrant Worker Poetry Competition, and Su Mei-zhi, Hong Kong media worker and writer, are invited to depict the life texture of female immigrant workers.

The lecture will be conducted in English. Chen Ru-jane and Shivaji Das, the organizer of Migrant Worker Poetry Competition in Singapore and Malaysia, are both “immigrant workers” who “live in foreign land”. They will be sharing their “Observation of the Foreign Land by Foreigners” in the forum.
