Topic: Contemporary Photography in Spain
Presenter: Alejandro Castellote, Spanish independent curator
Moderator: Shen Chao-Liang, photographer and Adjunct Associate Professor of National Taiwan University of Arts
Time: 2018/06/13 (Wed.) 19:00
Place: National Taiwan Museum–Nanmen Park, The White Palace (No. 1, Sec. 1, Nanchang Rd., Zhongzheng Dist., Taipei City)

Alejandro Castellote is the co-founder of PHoto ESPAÑA, as well as an independent curator, professor, and critic, who has been devoted in the study of contemporary photography in Europe, Central and South America, and Asia. He pointed out that photography in Spain in the XXI Century has undergone significant changes. Photographers of the new generation have begun using visual arts, video, and installation arts, or even integrated visual and audiovisual materials from the Internet. They also travel frequently, so the issues that they got in touch with were not limited to the local ones. As indicated by Alejandro Castellote, such new creative characters have been reflected in international exhibitions and more experimental works, in particular, the prominent photography collections. The teamwork between photographers, editors, and graphic designers has created big cross-field impacts. The photographer Shen Chao-Liang will unfold a brilliant dialogue with Alejandro Castellote in the lecture.
